With every sports season that comes and goes, teams and coaching staffs search the nation and beyond for fresh additions. For the 2008-2009 fall season, the Ospreys will feature a total of 32 new recruits, according to Shawn LaFata, director for UNF Athletics Media Relations. The Spinnaker took some time to interview some of the new athletes you might see at a game or meet this fall.

Your ol’ pal, Ozzie, is back with the second installment for the Spinnaker. Not a lot has been going on since last time I wrote. I was able to fit in a vacation up north where it was less than 90 degrees everyday. I don’t know if you know this, but heat and I aren’t the best of friends. Don’t get me wrong now, I can handle the heat. I just don’t like it.

A 1-1 double-overtime tie against the University of South Florida opened the season for the UNF women’s soccer team Aug. 22.
In a game that was a battle of the goaltenders, UNF senior goalkeeper Rachael Howard prevented several close overtime goals, which would have ended the game.

Duval County is one of the nation’s highest rated counties in numbers of people who have a sexual transmitted disease.
Recently Duval County was rated highest in Florida for gonorrhea, second for chlamydia, sixth for AIDS and third in the nation for HIV. These recent ratings are much higher than the previous statistical data in 2005
