Despite argument from the UNF Psychology Department, the UNF Faculty Association voted Feb. 4 to terminate the Master of Arts and Counseling Psychology program, one of only two master’s degree programs the department offers.

The Florida Senate has cleared a bill which would reduce the payout from the Florida Bright Futures scholarship and require more from students initially seeking the scholarship. With state lottery revenue sagging, legislators are looking for ways to preserve Bright Futures without bankrupting it.

The second and final scheduled debate between presidential candidates from the Red, Yellow and United Ospreys parties was held March 25 in the UNF ballroom with about 75 people in attendance, most of which were sporting party colors of one hue or another.

UNF Electrical Engineering Professor Tayeb Giuma, who was recently charged with simple battery, was formally dismissed March 24 after the results of a March 15 predetermination conference.
UNF Provost Mark Workman wrote in an e-mail to Giuma, “the University would be negligent to retain you and can no longer assume the risk of you continuing as an employee.”
This letter of termination follows a Feb. 2 notice of intent to terminate from Workman.
