UPDATED: Search after bomb threat turns up nothing

Posted by admin On November - 11 - 2009

The University of North Florida posted a notification on Thursday morning, Nov. 12, that a thorough search by the University Police Department has produced no results after a bomb threat made towards Building 3. The building is now open for normal activites, although additional officers will be in and around the building throughout the day and evening.

The threat was received by UPD late Nov. 10 and indicated the building would be bombed Thursday, Nov. 12, said UNF Assistant Vice President for Public Relations Sharon Ashton said.  Shortly after receiving the threat UPD notified faculty and staff who work in the building and tried to gather helpful information from them.  After the conversations turned over no information UPD began thoroughly policing the building as a precaution.

UPD requests that anyone with information about this threat contact them at (904) 620-2800.
