Staff Blog: 44th President

20 January 2009 No Comment admin

The inauguration of the 44th U.S. president ended about an hour ago and I am confident that no matter where one was they were watching it. I was not going to watch it, but decided to turn on the television with about 20 min. left of the program when the Reverend Dr. Joseph Lowery was speaking, and I am so glad I did. Watching the mass of people and taking in what was actually happening at that exact moment, I realized I lived through this day, a day that will be the pivotal point in history books to come. When the national anthem was sung, I teared up, I really did. I do not know why, only that I felt a sense of belonging, as one, of the people of the United States; How far we have come is unspeakable.

There are so many mixed feelings about this day and the four years to proceed and I know that I, along with everyone am holding my breath to see what happens and where we are in 2012, if we are at all. If for some unforgivable reason you did not see the inauguration this morning, Obama’s inaugural address can be read word for word online, as well as seen so I urge you to do so.  Also, there is a lot of controversy about how much the inauguration weekend has cost and why the hell Obama was all for it.

and there’s plenty more where that came from.
